In 1975, Hon Yu's founder, Mr Yang Chang-An, left behind a distinguished position and career in a domestic auto manufacturing company, arranged a team of highly trained professionals and inaugurated Hon Yu Auto-Parts Co., LTD in city of Nei-Hu.

Hon Yu in 1998, with the collaboration between Hon Yu and Yu Long (authorized dealer for Nissan, Taiwan), Hon Yu developed its first stainless steel sill scuff doorplate for Nissan Cefiro. This revolutionary concept became widely used for all makes and models in Taiwan. This later became the benchmark for today's vehicle.
In 2000, stem from its strong presence and connections in the automotive market, Hon-Yu made its debut globally to the Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, as well as the Middle East dominion. The result is an increase in total annual sales figure by over 15% per year.
In 2001, Hon Yu became the exclusive sill/scuff door plate supplier for Proton, Malaysia's Largest Automotive manufacture plant, and the following year, the same collaboration went to Australia Mazda, Mitsubishi and Oman Toyota.
